Life is a saboteur.

October 5th, 2011

Last night, I was a guest DJ on the Out of Step podcast, hosted by Adam Mehl. I brought a bunch of songs down to the studio, and we had a great time shooting the shit while listening to great tunes. It should be available for download from iTunes next Monday, October 9th.

Safewords has been playing a bunch of shows lately, including two out of the last three weekends at the Turf Club in St. Paul. We haven’t been rehearsing, but that’s going to change on Friday. We’re hoping to finish up a couple of new songs, as we’re playing even more shows in the coming weeks, including next Thursday, October 13th at the new Amsterdam Bar & Hall in Downtown St. Paul. That show will be with Daymoths and Blood Folke.

It’s taken over two years, but I feel like I’m finally starting to turn the corner with regard to creative pursuits. I really need some partners in crime to keep me motivated. Adrianne and I had an awesome conversation over tea at Spyhouse on Nicollet last week, and last night’s taping with Adam helped me put some things into perspective. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the coming months.

School has been a bit of a drag. One class has great content but poor instruction, another has less-engaging content that could be made far more interesting if the instructor wasn’t intent on destroying any possible entertainment one could cull from the class, and the last is great but I’m overthinking it and the assignments have been frustrating as a result. I’m keeping motivated by stepping away and engaging in late-night bouts of NHL 12 with my team, The Handsome Boys. We’re not good, but it’s (mostly) fun.

There is no purpose to this entry other than letting whoever might be reading this know that I am alive and intent on tackling the hell out of some projects over the winter. Put yourself on high alert.
